Il solito scintillante show dello Staples Center di Los Angeles ha fatto da cornice alla consegna dei Grammy Awards 2014: i vincitori più acclamati della serata californiana sono stati i Daft Punk, che grazie alla super hit Get Lucky e all’album Random Access Memories hanno trionfato nelle prestigiose categorie Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Album of the Year, Best Dance Electronic Album e Best Engineered Album, e il duo rivelazione del 2013 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, premiati con il caratteristico grammofono d’oro come Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song e Best Rap Album.
Eccellente anche la serata della giovanissima (17 anni) neozelandese Lorde, che grazie a Royals ha vinto come Song of the Year e Best Pop Solo Performance, mentre il celebre rapper Jay-Z su nove nomination ha portato a casa soltanto i premi come Best Rap/Sung Collaboration per Holy Grail e come Best Music Video per Suit & Tie, entrambi con Justin Timberlake. JT si è aggiudicato anche la categoria Best R&B Song con Pusher Love Girl.
Premi anche per Bruno Mars (Best Pop Vocal Album per Unorthodox Jukebox), Pharrell Williams, Imagine Dragons, Black Sabbath, Paul McCartney feat. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic & Pat Smear, Led Zeppelin, Vampire Weekend, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Adele, Michael Bublé e Ben Harper.
L’assegnazione dei Grammy Awards 2014 è stato davvero uno show impeccabile dal punto di vista degli artisti che si sono esibiti nel corso della serata.
